Lakers News · Boys Win Basketball Opener


The men’s varsity basketball team traveled to Henry Ford College on Wednesday to play the Navigators of Henry Ford Academy and came away with a convincing 61-18 victory over the home team.

The game was tied at 4-4, when the Lakers went on an impressive 40-0 run to close out the half at 44-4. A running clock would be instituted in the 2nd half.

The Lakers were led by Clifford Barrow’s 21 points. Anthony Rogers scored 9 points grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked 5 shots while Zach Mingo added 6 points and 5 steals.

In the JV game, Lonzir Tamble scored 12 and Armon Parker 7 as the lakers fell 37-31 to the Navigators.

The teams will return to action on Friday as they travel to Pontiac High School.
