Lakers News · Men and Women’s Cross Country Run Well


The Men and Women’s Cross Country Teams  continued their season as they ran in the Charter School Jamboree held at Nankin Mills. There were a total of 58 runners on Wednesday at the meet represented by 6 schools.

The men continued their improvement as they work towards the Detroit Metro Athletic Conference (DMAC) schedule that starts next week and the MHSAA Regional meet in October.

Junior Jayden Williams led the way for the Lakers with a 7th place finish while freshmen Jordan Cross and Derreaun Polk continued their improvement with 8th and 9th place finishes respectively. Junior Peace Little finished in 10th place while fellow junior Edward Woods finished in 21st.

For the women’s team, sophomore DaNaeya Derrick-Bynum led the way with junior Leila Miller and freshman Aniya Boler not far behind.

The teams return to action on Monday in the first of four DMAC meets to be held at Nankin Mills. The race is scheduled to start at 4:45 pm.
