The men’s cross country team was scheduled to compete in the Detroit Metro Athletic Conference (DMAC) first jamboree on Monday, but only two teams were there for the event.
The Lakers and defending (DMAC) league champion Canton Prep ran a dual meet instead. The Lakers showed the hard work they have been putting in by defeating the Chargers 20-37 (low score wins in XC).
Junior Jayden Williams led the way for the team while freshman Derreuan Polk finished 2nd. Junior Peace Little ran a personal record while finishing in 4th place.
Freshman Jordan Cross continued his outstanding season with a 5th place finish and junior Edward Woods rounded out the scoring with an 8th place finish.
Sophomore Mario Williams ran a personal record while finishing in 9th place. Senior Khabal Hopson also ran a personal best while finishing 13th. Freshman Jalen Blair ran in his first high school cross country meet and turned in a solid performance.
Coach Greg Boler’s team returns to action on Wednesday as they will run their final charter school conference meet at Nankin Mills. Racing is scheduled to start at 4:15 pm. The course on Hines Drive can be found across the street from Nankin Mills which is located at 33327 Edward Hine Drive Westland Michigan 48185.
