Lakers News · Cross Country Wins DMAC Title


The men’s cross country team won the Detroit Metro Athletic Conference (DMAC) league championship on Monday which was held at Nankin Mills in Westland.

The team finished with 36 overall points during the 3 week league championship series besting 2nd place Canton Prep (28 pts) and 3rd place Jalen Rose Leadership Academy (26 pts).

Junior Jayden Williams was the league champion, winning the title for the 2nd time in his 3 year career. Teammate and fellow junior Peace Little finished in 2nd place overall, less than one second behind the champion. Both runners ran season best in the championship meet.

Freshman Derreaun Polk finished 6th overall while fellow freshman Jordan Cross finished 11th. Sophomore Mario Williams rounded out the scoring for the Lakers with a 15th place finish.

The team returns to action, as they will be competing in the 11 team MHSAA Pre-Regional which will be be held at Stockbridge High School on Saturday August 24th Race time is 10:00 am.
