Advanced Tech 86 MMSA 29
The Men’s basketball team hosted Michigan Math and Science in a Detroit Metro Athletic Conference contest on Monday, March 8th. The Lakers won their 7th game of the season by storming out to an early lead and coasting to an 86-29 victory.
Everyone got into the scoring column as the team improved to 5-0 in DMAC league play. The Lakers put four players in double figures. Junior Armon Parker led the way with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Junior Kyle Germany tossed in 14 points and added 6 assists. Junior Jayden Williams came off the bench to score 14 points while junior Chris Boler scored 10 points and added 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Junior Tariq Harris had a big game off the bench with 9 points ( 2 triples) and 9 rebounds.
In the JV game, the younger Lakers notched a 73-51 victory over MMSA. Freshmen guards; Jordan Cross and Derreaun Polk led the way with 33 and 19 points respectively. Sophomore forward Mario Williams had a big game with 9 points and 11 rebounds.
Plymouth Christian 59 Advanced Tech 58
On Friday, March 5th the Lakers tangled with Plymouth Christian (8-4) in a non-league contest. This is a game that would come down to the final second as the Eagles hit a buzzer-beater to escape with a 1-point victory. The Lakers would find themselves down 30-17 at halftime before battling back in the 3rd quarter and held a 7 point lead with under a minute to play. Plymouth Christian hit three big shots down the stretch to get back into the game before hitting the game-ending shot.
Junior Kyle Germany had 18 points, 8 assists, 6 steals and 4 rebounds while junior Shawn James scored 13 points and had 7 rebounds. Junior Jayden Williams added 10 points, 5 steals and 4 assists.
The Lakers fell in the JV game by a score of 47-42. Derreaun Polk scored 16 points while Jordan Cross added 11.
