The women’s basketball team traveled to southwest Detroit on Thursday and beat the Wolves of Detroit Cristo Rey by a score of 42-24.
ATA led by just one point at the end of the 1st quarter, but the lead grew to double digits by halftime as the team went into the locker room up 24-12.
The game would remain a 12 point spread for most of the 2nd half until the Lakers blew open the game in the fourth quarter with an 11-3 scoring run to complete the final score.
Junior guard Arlonna Twitty led the way with 21 points and 6 steals while sophomore guard Zante’ Brown chipped in 17. Sophomore DaNaya Derrick-Bynum grabbed 6 rebounds as the Lakers improved to 5-5 on the season.
The team returns to action on Friday as they will travel to Michigan Collegiate for a 5:30 pm game against the Cougars.
