The men’s basketball team welcomed Detroit Cody from the Detroit Public School League on Friday and came away with a solid 60-49 victory over the Comets.
The Lakers led 31-27 and carried a 44-34 lead into the 4th quarter. Cody would come back to take a 47-46 lead before the Lakers would outscore the visitors 13-2 the rest of the way for the final margin of victory.
Junior Kyle Germany tossed in 16 points while junior forward and 6th man Jayden Williams scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Junior Edward Woods scored 11 points and junior Shawn James scored 9 while adding 9 rebounds.
In the JV game, the Lakers handed the Comets a 69-31 defeat. Freshman Jordan Cross scored 21, freshman Derreaun Polk scored 13 points while freshman Jalen Blair and sophomore Mario Williams scored 10 and 8 points respectively.
The teams return to action on Friday as they will travel to Ecorse for a triple header that will include the girls varsity team.
