Meet Recap

The women’s Cross Country team competed in the DMAC League Jamboree #3 on Monday and came away with a 1st place team finish in the 6 team event.

The women were led by Sophomore Dionne Kirkland who finished in 2nd place overall. Senior Kenia Jimenez finished 5th overall while Sophomores Areion Walker-Benford and Katiah Chriswell finished 8th and 9th respectively. Freshman Tania Jimenez rounded out the team with a 14th place finish.

The ladies will conclude the DMAC season next Monday as they will compete in the League Meet held at Nankin Mills.

Game Recap

The Men’s finished the Regular Season with an 8-0 victory over Hope of Detroit Academy in the 3rd Place game that was held at Star Academy on Thursday Night. With the win, the Lakers improved to 10-3 on the season. The team will play in the MHSAA Division 3 District Tournament on Monday against Livonia Clarenceville

The girls volleyball team lost last night to Star International Academy. Maja Walker served an ace in the second set and Chelsea Murrell had a hit and tip for points in the second. Christina Sanders had a hit and tip for points in the third set. The team plays Universal Learning Academy tomorrow in the field house for their final home game of the season at 4:30pm.

Game Recap

The girls volleyball team lost to Hope of Detroit Academy yesterday in the field house. Christina Sanders made a tip and pass for points in the first set. Bianca Galarza served an ace and Estefany Gonzalez had a pass for a point. In the second set the girls had some great volleys back and forth with Hope. Roxanna Padilla had a pass for point and Bianca Galarza and Maja Walker both made plays out of the net. In the third set Christina, Estefany, Bianca, and Chelsea Murrell all had tips that resulted in Laker points. There next game is Monday at Start International Academy. Ladies-There is no practice today. Practice will be tomorrow from 3:30-5 pm.

Girls Middle School Basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball · Middle School Girls Basketball Starting off Strong


The Middle School Girl’s Basketball team started their season with a 27-15 win over Pontiac Academy of Excellence.  The team got off to an 11-0 start thanks to 8th grader Arlonna Twitty.  Janae Garrett, Za’riel Carter, and Lenorea Johnson all contributed with baskets of their own.  Pontiac made a late first half run to cut the lead to 6 going into the half.  Zante Brown and Da’Nia Womack both brought stellar defense to help shut down the Ponitac run.  The win takes the Middle school Record to 2-0 and will look to add to their winning streak Thursday night against Great lakes Academy at 5PM.

Game Recap

The men’s varsity soccer team saw their eight game win streak come to an end at the hands of STAR Academy by the final score of 7-5 last night. The team battled hard and took a 3-3 tie into half time with Hussein Al-Zayadi netting the first three goals. But in the second half STAR pulled away and proved to be too much for the Lakers. The loss puts the Lakers in the consolation finals Thursday where they will battle Hope of Detroit Academy for a third place league finish. The game will take place back at STAR with a game time of 4:30. Come cheer us on!

Game Recap

The men’s varsity soccer team ended the regular season on a stellar 8 game win streak defeating River Rouge last night by the score of 7-0. The shutout was shared by keeper Alexis Gonzalez-Haro in the first half and Hussein Al-Zayadi in the second half. Hussein also netted 3 goals for the hat trick in the first half. Daniel Valenzuela added two goals. Sam Biiriac and Rodrigo Ruiz were also ATA goal scorers. The team finished on a high note heading into league playoffs which start today. The team will take on STAR Academy today in the semifinals at their field in Dearborn Heights. Come out and support your Lakers as they make a run towards the league championship!

Game Recap

The girls volleyball team lost their match to Cesar Chavez last night. They played hard but fell in all three sets. Christina Sanders dominated at the net with multiple tips for points in the first two sets. She also had a deep pass for a point and a hit for a point in the first set. Roxanna Padilla served an ace in the first and she make a block for a point in the second set. Chelsea Murrell made a block and a set for points in the second. Maja Walker had a pass that resulted in a point as well. Bianca had a dig that resulted in a Laker point in the third set. Their next game is Wednesday at 4:30pm in the Field House.
